Barbetta Restaurant

Ristorante Buca di San Francesco

Dal 1929

Toscanini, Caruso, Puccini, Strauss, Mahler and Stravinsky, who
wrote a short melody on the spot here: when performing on
Broadway, all the great artists go to Barbetta, the oldest Italian-
Piedmontese restaurant in New York. Inspired by Il Cambio in
Turin, it is located in the exquisitely restored Maioglio-Astor
buildings of 1874-81, with a luxurious hall, an exclusive garden,
and private rooms on the second floor. Bagna cauda and white
truffles were introduced to America here. Adored by Warhol, Taylor
and Newman. At the next table you may find a former US
president, Sting or Madonna. Now run by the founder’s daughter.
