Following the success of “Bonjour Tristesse”, Françoise Sagan
used to spend her evenings here in 1954, when she was sent to
Italy by Elle magazine to write about the Dolce Vita. From her
pen came “Bonjour Venise”, “Bonjour Capri”, and “Bonjour
Naples”. During the Festival, patrons could meet Burt Lancaster,
Luchino Visconti and Orson Welles to enjoy a “Gatto”, a variant
of the Americano. The quintessential Venetian cocktail bar,
which served Mistrà already in 1938, it is now a more modern
“wine bar” but has preserved the lovely little 1930s room, framed
by its magnificent windows.
