Coffee, chocolate and cream, all served with the most wonderful paraphernalia that has become an institution: the “bicerin”; a mouth-watering tradition in Turin, first saw the light in this café, a favourite of the patriot Silvio Pellico and the composer Giacomo Puccini, who lived just nearby, as well as the philosopher Nietzsche, the minister Cavour, the poet Gozzano, the writers Calvino and Soldati, and the revue queen Wanda Osiris. The writer Umberto Eco set here his novel “The Prague Cemetery”. Original both inside and out, it still has the quintessential look of the traditional cioccolaterie of nineteenth-century Turin.
