Café dell'Ussero Palazzo Agostini - Lungarno Pacinotti 27, 56126 Pisa (PI)

Ristorante Buca di San Francesco

Dal 1929

A monument to Italian culture in the fifteenth-century Palazzo Agostini, on the Lungarno, it is filled with memories of illustrious Risorgimento patrons who came as students: Domenico Guerrazzi, sent down from university for proclaiming news in the café about the Carbonara revolt, Giuseppe Montanelli, a volunteer at Curtatone and Montanara, Giuseppe Giusti, who made the café famous in his Memorie di Pisa of 1841, Renato Fucini, Giosuè Carducci, who wrote a mock-heroic poem here. And Mazzini, the Garibaldian Abba and Ruskin. In 1839 it hosted the meetings of the first Italian Congress of Scientists.
