A second home to the “Il Secolo XIX” and “Il Lavoro”, from 1947 to 1968 the legendary editors Cavassa and Pertini would come to dash off an article and enjoy an espresso. Always patronised by the elite, it stands just opposite the Prefecture and takes pride in an enviable list of presidents of the Chamber, Senate and Republic. Gilberto Govi, artists of the day at the Politeama Genovese, and the painter Caminati, who frescoed the foyer of the Teatro Carlo Felice were all regulars. Beautifully elegant, with original furnishings supplemented in 1946, it is one of the last heirs to the great Genoa tradition.
