Confetteria Romanengo Pietro fu Stefano

Dal 1780

Italy’s most famous confectioners. Verdi wrote that they ‘exquisitely candied all manner of fruits’, and King Umberto of Savoy chose them for his wedding with Margherita. In 1857 the municipal council of Savona gave its ‘demizuccheri’ to Vittorio Emanuele II when he visited the city. The singer-songwriter De Andrè made it the star of a song. Sugared almonds, sweets, chocolates, violets, pralines, petit-fours, fruit pastries and meringues all come from ancient recipes: the one for fondant torrone with green pistachio nuts was provided by Queen Elena of Montenegro. A secret museum in Soziglia contains packages dating back over two centuries. Seven generations.
