Pasticceria Cucchi

Dal 1936

In 1936, the birthplace in Milan of the ‘Caffè concerto’ (open until
2 am!) where performances by international artists made it one
of the most fashionable haunts. Regulars included the poet
Ungaretti and the watercolourist Falzoni who lived on the top floor
and considered it as his studio. The philosopher and writer Franco
Bolelli works every day at a table here. Run by the Cucchi family
for three generations, its cakes, rice puddings, croissants and
panettone have won over generations of artists and teachers from
the universities of Milan. Rebuilt after the bombing raids in 1943,
it was enlarged, with a new bar area, in 2013.
