Heir to the ancient Albergo dello Scudo di Francia, in a noble fifteenth-century palazzo. When Florence was the capital of the Kingdom of Italy from 1865 to 1871, it was the Hotel Parlamento and home to deputies and senators, who were just round the corner from the Chamber and Senate in the Palazzo Vecchio. Very elegant, it still preserves the beautiful “Parliament Hall”, frescoed with portraits of the protagonists of the Italian Risorgimento, which was where politicians would continue their discussions. The lobby and rooms with the busts of famous Florentines with eccentric headgear are enchanting.
