On 19 August 1944, the liberators of Italy sat round a laid table in the garden: Winston Churchill and generals Marshall, head of the joint chiefs of staff of the US Army, Eisenhower, commander of the American armed forces in Europe, Clark, commander of the Fifth Army, Ryder and Crittenberg. In a park above the little port, in a delightful Liberty style, it was adored by Pirandello and Marta Abba, Toscanini, Papini, Soffici, Missiroli and Emma Gramatica. Senator Spadolini was a regular. In 1962 its guests included the cast and troupe of the film “The Easy Life”. Three generations.
