The historic Pasticceria Pfatisch was opened in 1915 by the famous master confectioner of Bavarian origin, Gustavo Pfatisch. In 1921 it moved to its current Art Deco premises in Via Sacchi 42, in the splendid Liberty-style building designed by the famous architect Pietro Fenoglio. The antique kitchen, originally a chocolate and confectionery workshop, is now a wonderful chocolate museum of the early twentieth century. The shop is a centre of excellence in the production of gianduiotti, chocolate bars, spreads, and pralines, as well as of cakes and savoury pastries invented in the early 1950s. Its masterpiece is Il Festivo, the sempiternal cake created in the early 1960s that has retained a special place in the hearts of the Turinese. The Pasticceria Pfatisch has been declared a Historical Establishment of Italy, a cultural treasure, and a Supplier of the Royal Household.
