This enchanting, luxurious café-restaurant in the centre of the
ancient town is in an eclectic-Liberty style, with a romantic
balcony overlooking the Valdichiana. The outdoor sign, ceilings,
stuccoes, large front windows, doors and windows are all original
and it has been returned to its former early-twentieth-century
splendour by meticulous restoration. A destination for tourists
from around the world, partly for its traditional medieval Tuscan
recipes, it was a cultural hub for writers and poets like Carducci,
Prezzolini and Malaparte, and it was adored by Pirandello, who
found inspiration by observing its patrons, and Fellini.
