A tavern on the inland route, where people went to play morra and
to drink. The first patrons were the commanders of ships, from
Camogli, Bogliasco and Sori, who made its reputation known. During
the Belle Époque, it was discovered by the industrialists Ansaldo, Costa
and Dufour, on holiday on the Riviera; in 1960-70, its gastronomic
contests brought fame to the trofie and cheese focaccia of Recco and
it was a haunt of theatre actors on tour in Genoa: Pani, Scotti,
Buazzelli, Fabrizi and Villaggio were all loyal guests. Now a citadel
of cuisine and home to the Premio Rebora gastronomy award, it is
run by the fourth generation of the founder Manuelina..
