A delightful Liberty-style building, this is one of Italy’s last
railway taverns, and it elegantly preserves its original earlytwentieth-
century interiors, furnishings and windows, together
with its delicious family recipes. In the second half of the
nineteenth century, it stood on the Imperial-Regia Privilegiata
Strada Ferrata Ferdinandea Lombardo-Veneta, the original Venice-Milan railway. Since the 1960s, it has been a meeting place for artists, including Restani, Pomodoro, Mendini, Rotella, and Kostabi, whose works stand proudly on the walls. The kitchen is in the able hands of the fourth generation.
