Created by Antonino Ercolano, who abandoned his vocation to become a priest but kept his nickname “parrucchiano” (parish priest) for the rest of his life, it is a monument to the glory days of tourism in the early twentieth century. Its incomparable ground-floor hall recalls that of a majestic castle and a flight of steps leads up to a large winter garden, which is itself surrounded by a garden of orange and lemon trees, palms, rhododendrons, wisteria and roses. The custodian of ancient Sorrento recipes, it has given hospitality to the Prince of Piedmont, Primo Carnera and Joe Louis, Anthony Quinn and Gina Lollobrigida. Four generations.
