When the canal in front was covered over in the early twentieth
century, it was created as a tavern in a typical Venetian cavàna,
or boathouse, and has maintained its original structure with an
ancient porch on great supporting arches in brick and hefty
mooring rings, which gave access directly from gondolas. One of
the oldest and most famous places in the history and gastronomic
tradition of the Sestiere Cannaregio, in 2006 it became a very
elegant restaurant with the best in traditional fare, loved also by
the queen consort Silvia of Sweden.
