The oldest distillery in Italy was created here, in the premises below the grapperia that still stands proudly on the Ponte del Palladio. It was back in 1779 when Bortolo Nardini transformed the ancient rural tradition of going from house to house with a portable still into a noble art that still lives on today, when he started selling the aqua vitae that has become famous the world over. Here we are in the heart of Veneto, where indelible pages of history have been written and where Hemingway set his Farewell to Arms. The seventh generation now continues the family tradition, making known the culture of grappa, an Italian icon adored by queens and poets, actresses and presidents.
